A Great & Super-Minimal Project Management Tool

Likeliness to Recommend

8 /10

What differentiates Trello from other similar products?

Trello is very different from other similar products in terms of the product vision and features. It doesn't really directly cater to project management rather by being very generic in nature they have kept their horizon very wide, which helps the customers. As a customer one can customize this generic software according to their needs and most of the use cases can easily be covered by trello's amazing range of customizations.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Have been using Trello for the last couple of years, and I will be honest in saying that both I and my team absolutely love to use this beautiful tool. Here are some of my favorite aspects of Trello - 1. The great kanban board - I mean there's no substitute for this board view, and Trello brought it first in the industry. Then every other product followed. It's super easy to manage work and flows using this board. 2. Blazingly Fast Application - Trello is so fast in everything it does that you will simply be in love with its speed. 3. Reliability - Along with speed, Trello's trustworthiness and reliability are on another level.

What do you dislike most about this product?

There's nothing as such that I dislike about Trello. However its biggest advantage can be sometimes its weak points, let me explain, so Trello is not traditional Task management or project management tool so it does not have those specific features ( even though you can implement those using customizations) that's why sometimes you might find it a bit tricky to set up your use cases. But their support team will help you out with setting up this kind of tricky situation. If they could provide some kind of predefined template which will create all the necessary parameters and labelings then it will be very helpful.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Go ahead without any hesitation, the minimalistic nature of this product will definitely help you to focus on getting stuff done instead of being overwhelmed by the tool itself.

Quite basic compared to the competition

Likeliness to Recommend

5 /10

What differentiates Trello from other similar products?

Not a lot to be honest. For everything Trello does, there's a competitor that arguably does it equally or better. 'Simplicity' is probably its only USP, but this simplicity works against it when you want to do anything more than the basics. Power-ups can add a lot of functionality but it's off-putting that you have to find and experiment with these, rather than things like epics, dependencies, etc being available out of the box.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It's arguably much easier to pick up than the competition for someone with zero experience using this type of project management tool. Its simplicity means this type of user is less likely to be overwhelmed by the world of Kanban style project/task management.

What do you dislike most about this product?

So much of what an intermediate/advanced user would expect is not available out-of-the-box and can only be done by using power-ups that can incur an additional cost.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If your organisation is new to this type of tool and your users are not particularly technical, then Trello may be a good place to start. For development teams, Trello may *just about* cut it but don't be surprised if it doesn't.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Includes Product Enhancements
  • Appreciates Incumbent Status

Cons

  • Slower Product Innovation
  • Less Performance Enhancing
  • Less Productive
