Impressive intranet site system with collaboration

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?

It has fantastic integration with Office 365, which is expected. The customization options are also great for the sites, and it allow us to empower out users to own their sites and content. This saves on IT having to micromanage all of the sites, and our users love the options that this gives them. The collaboration capabilities for files also sets it apart, and this makes it an easy sell for our users once they've seen what it can offer.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The flexibility in site creation and the ability to empower our users to fully manage the site and content is invaluable. This saves a lot of time for IT not having to manage all of the content. The collaboration capabilities for files is also incredible and makes selling Sharepoint to users very easy. Lists also offer a lot of options that have improved processes for various teams in the company.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some more useful settings are still hidden back in the Classic experience interface. This can be jarring for users when they need to go there for permissions management in some cases. The modern calendar app is also not as useful as the classic one. These issues don't cause many problems overall.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If departments and teams can benefit from having their own space to share content and files and post information, Sharepoint is entirely worth trying. It really offers so many great features with file collaboration. Lists can also offer many options for anything that can be collected using a form. We've improved workflows for many department and team needs using Lists.

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?

I like that Microsoft Sharepoint integrates with Microsoft Office. Other products don't have a clear integration. The use of sites also helps aid in organization and sharing of documents.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One aspect of Microsoft Sharepoint that I find useful is the ability to follow or favorite certain sites, and the frequent activity log it keeps. This makes it easy to have shortcuts to my most frequented documents, which is ideal when team members or myself may be looking for something quickly.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The aesthetics could be better, it looks a little out of date.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would recommend using it for workflow and organization!

What differentiates Microsoft Sharepoint from other similar products?

We were able to eliminate business shared storage and license-based document imaging software thanks to SharePoint. The immediate cost reductions were significant, but the long-term cost savings will be significant when the cost of monitoring and maintaining the hardware for shared drive services is included. Multiple copies of the same document can be stressful, resulting in data loss and modifications. That difficulty is eliminated if everyone uses the same layout and views and changes the same document.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

You may assign several degrees of access to people, such as see only or edit. SharePoint is a fantastic tool for working across various offices or locations. One of the nicest benefits is the ability to avoid having numerous copies of a single document floating about and for everyone to view and change it as required. We completely replace costly cloud reporting software with SharePoint at a tenth of the cost of the reporting application subscription. The elimination of shared drives alone made the move to SharePoint a breath of fresh air.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some of the Office 365 apps have some overlap. It's difficult for someone who is just getting started to know which app to utilize for which occasion. If you're starting from scratch, SharePoint provides for so much flexibility that it's easy to get lost in the weeds. Because of its numerous applications and extensive capabilities, SharePoint has a wealth of information. So much so that learning about the product might be overwhelming at first.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

The gadget is really simple to use; I recommend giving it a go. There are several useful features, such as process creation and document signature requests. I can't think of all the possibilities in my brain; it's a program that you can tweak and utilize in a variety of ways.

Pros

  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity
