Tired of fighting Active Directory? Try JumpCloud.

What differentiates JumpCloud from other similar products?

My use of similar products is 5+ years out of date, but I can tell you when I tried OneLogin at a previous company, getting it deployed was a pain. JumpCloud ticks so many boxes with one price tag, it's hard to pass up. Very easy to get started, and they give you 10 users for free to play around with. Highly recommended for companies like mine that have a mix of operating systems and/or not enough IT staff to go around.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The fact that I can automate the creation of a new user in Google Workspace, Office 365 (and Azure Active Directory if that's your idea of a good time), and other applications and push those user credentials to laptop in the span of about a minute is pretty amazing to me.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Some of the integrations are a bit flddly, such as Office 365 which requires Domain Federation, but that's not the fault of JumpCloud. Other challenges are the fact that lots of SaaS services only allow OAUTH or SAML authentication at a higher price bracket, so that should be kept in mind when considering a service like JumpCloud. They could also stand to have a dynamic group feature, e.g. a group that filters for MacOS operating systems, rather than having to do this manually, or a group that filters for a particular version of an application to help identify which machines need a vulnerabilities patched.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If it's a toss up between JumpCloud and a competitor, see if the other company will give you free accounts to use indefinitely. If the sales staff at the other company are pushy, tell them to take a hike. I absolutely loathe the Hard Sell approach and will 100% walk if that's how it's being handled. I don't get that at all with the folks I've been working with at JC for the past ~4 years. Truly a great product.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Respectful
