Guru lives up to its name, it is a Guru!

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Guru from other similar products?

Some other repositories don't have automated messages such as the "Weekly Verification Digest" or helpful plug-ins for Chrome. These features are great especially in the Telecom industry where I work, everything is fast-paced.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect is that Guru is a great repository of information. I particularly like referring new hires here since it has everything and our company has done a good job of maintaining cards. I also appreciate the Guru sends a "Weekly Verification Digest"

What do you dislike most about this product?

That there's not an easy-to-use OKR search feature.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Great product, overall would recommend especially for a start-up or fast-paced environment where on the job learning is a must.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate

Easy, trustworthy, crucial for a remote team

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Guru from other similar products?

The only other product I've used is an intranet at another company. Guru blows that out of the water

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Cards have a clear author and need to be re-verified every so often, so I am confident that the information I am looking at is up to date and reliable. At my previous company, sometimes information was years old but that's all I had - so it was tough to say if it was accurate and find out who to contact about it. Guru solves for that completely

What do you dislike most about this product?

None that I can think of

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Make sure it's organized in a clear manner - we have different categories for different functions at our company. If that weren't the case, I could see it getting messy and overwhelming

Pros

  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity
  • Trustworthy
  • Saves Time

Helpful / intuitive knowledge management software

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Guru from other similar products?

Hierarchy is better and it continues to innovate with a clear, intuitive design.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I appreciate the intuitive hierarchy (collections/boards/sections/cards) and intuitive WYSIWYG interface for creating/editing cards. We had disparate cards that fell stale in our old knowledge management software solution and couldn't access any data from our extensive Confluence knowledge base. However, this tool/system provides a more intuitive way to keep data up-to-date using verification by a group or individual that owns or manages the knowledge. The table structure was quick and straightforward - I could copy a Google sheet and paste the contents into the table in Guru easily.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The iframe embedding is not very intuitive, so I'd recommend that the tech team at Guru further improve the design. I noticed some Google docs transferred in that had a default iframe size that showed only the white space inside the iframe and made it seem that the iframe was empty until I happened to use my scrolling on my mouse inside. The iframe should provide more built-in tools to resize to different monitor sizes, etc. Similarly, the table builder would throw a bit of data in and start a scrollbar, which I did not find helpful or intuitive. I'd recommend a better text resizing or warning to slim down the contents.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Go with Guru and adequately train your employees ahead of time to manage the solution intuitively and helpfully properly. The knowledge management tool is only as strong as your team's support of it. Run, do not walk from the temptation to use SharePoint as an alternative knowledge management solution. I'd also recommend you avoid Bloomfire, which has stagnated by comparison with Guru.

  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Enables Productivity
