Veritas Strengthens AWS Partner Network Status
NetBackup and Backup Exec have achieved AWS Storage Competency status. Veritas customers can better leverage AWS infrastructure for data management, migration, and protection to and in the cloud.
AWS Storage Competency Partners provide consulting and technology services for backup and restore operations for organizations looking to use cloud as a backup target and/or source. Backup Exec (for Windows environments) and NetBackup (for multi-platform environments) have the ability to support S3 for simple storage, S3 Standard-IA for infrequent access, and Glacier for cold storage.
With AWS Storage Competency status, NetBackup and Backup Exec are designed to protect data and mitigate against data loss from hardware or software issues. The solution is meant to solve customer pains around system failures, application errors, and/or accidental deletion. There are also integrations leveraging lower cost cloud storage for long-term retention (LTR).
The move solidifies a partnership that began in 2017 when Veritas became an Advanced Technology Partner with AWS. This includes developing solutions to help customers kick-start their data management initiatives in the cloud.
Other backup/restore providers that have achieved AWS Storage Partner status include CloudBerry Lab, Cohesity, Commvault, CTERA, Druva, NetApp, Rubrik, and Veeam.
Our Take
As organizations are embracing cloud for different use cases, compatibility with the large public cloud vendors is an important trend in the enterprise backup and availability market. This development should help Veritas customers in their cloud data protection and migration strategies.Want to Know More?
