Human Capital Management: Using Customer-Driven Reviews to Select Vendors
Info-Tech Research Group’s SoftwareReviews division has launched a data-driven review service to assist HR & IT leaders when evaluating the potential selection of human capital management (HCM) systems for purchase and implementation.
SoftwareReviews is rooted in crowd-sourced reviews in which real-life, verified customers rate HCM vendors on various performance metrics.

Customers use the expertise of verified IT professionals and data from peers to better evaluate potential vendors, confidently make selection decisions and negotiate contracts, and manage the vendor relationship. Data is available in three separate documents: the Category Report, Customer Experience Report, and Product Scorecard.
The January 2019 Category Report is an aggregate of 1,397 reviews across eight HCM vendors. Ceridian Dayforce, UltiPro, and Workday Human Capital Management are each considered a “Leader” because of their high ratings in both Product Features and Satisfaction and Vendor Experience and Capabilities.
Vendors scoring highest on Net Emotional Footprint included Ceridian Dayforce at 82%, Cornerstone Talent Management Suite at 81%, Workday HCM at 76%, and Bamboo HRIS at 75%. Interestingly, Cornerstone and Bamboo do not appear in the “Leader” category of Category Report due to an insufficient number of reviews at time of publication.
For customers interested in specific data on version, module, and overall satisfaction, renewal rates, features and capabilities, and individual comments from raters, Product Scorecards are available for each of the identified vendors. Reviews are continuous so for the most up-to-date data, customers should review the data on a just-in-time basis.
Our Take
In a world overloaded with HCM offerings, it is vital you leverage credible data to benchmark and evaluate potential vendors. In the tech industry, relationship management is increasingly more important; and your ability to understand vendor HCM offerings and manage vendor relationships will be crucial to being an effective partner to your business leaders.
