What is Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange?
As cyberattacks become more sophisticated and users work from anywhere, the hub-and-spoke networks and perimeter security we once relied on—VPNs and firewalls—fail to provide strong cyber and data protection and deliver poor user experience. Stretching your network like this enables cybercriminals to attack and compromise sensitive data.

What differentiates Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange from other similar products?
Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange stands out from other security solutions due to its cloud-native, Zero Trust architecture, its ability to replace traditional VPNs and network appliances, and its comprehensive set of integrated security features like DLP, CASB, threat protection, and SSL inspection. It offers scalability, ease of use, and a robust global network that ensures performance even as organizations expand or adopt more cloud services. These unique features make Zscaler especially appealing to enterprises seeking a seamless, secure, and scalable solution to protect remote workers, cloud applications, and data.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange is its cloud-native, Zero Trust architecture. This approach fundamentally transforms how organizations secure their networks and applications by continuously verifying every user, device, and application access, regardless of location. Unlike traditional security solutions that rely on perimeter-based defenses or hardware appliances, Zscaler's cloud-first model ensures that security is built into the fabric of the infrastructure, offering seamless, scalable protection for remote workforces and cloud environments.
What do you dislike most about this product?
One of the main drawbacks of Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange is its complex initial setup and configuration for larger enterprises. While the solution is powerful and scalable, the process of integrating it into an existing network infrastructure can be challenging, especially for organizations that are not fully cloud-native or have legacy systems.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Ensure Cloud-Readiness: Zscaler is best suited for organizations leveraging cloud services. Assess your current infrastructure for compatibility. Plan for Complex Setup: Expect a complex deployment, especially for large networks. Have skilled IT resources or consider professional services to assist. Evaluate Licensing: Choose the right features and user base for your needs to avoid unnecessary costs. Understand the pricing structure. Invest in Training: Educate your teams on Zero Trust principles and how Zscaler works to ensure smooth adoption.

A VPN Alternate, easy setup & URL-level security
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange from other similar products?
The most valuable feature is its ability to establish connectivity for remote users and remote endpoints. It offers a high level of granularity compared to typical VPNs, which also encapsulate a lot of I/O. It is straightforward to set up. Another most valuable features of Zscaler is web filtering, application control, and private access configuration.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Automated connectivity establishment that prevents users from working remotely flawlessly has almost no issues and a very intuitive connection establishment method in case of an issue. We see 99% reduced tickets raised in the system for users working remotely. Considering high-level URL filtering don't have to worry about data leakage for new users who may not be aware of Digital policy and stumble upon resources on the internet that may not be right also connection is directly with apps and not network so ensure no lateral connectivity.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The connectivity monitoring part should be included in the core license without any extra charges.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
While Zscaler supports client-initiated connections, it does not support server-initiated connections, this could be included in the latest upgrades but seek more information from your team if you mainly work through servers.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
