What differentiates Backup Exec from other similar products?

Veritas Backup Exec is a backup and recovery software which offers a lot great features. It supports wide range of platforms, has a nice intiutive UI to manage and automate backup tasks, packed a lot of advanced options such as deduplication and disaster recovery.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The best part of Veritas Backup Exec is the initiutive UI and cloud integration capability which helps customers to get up and running with this software quickly and perform backup/restore from cloud as well.

What do you dislike most about this product?

While it offers an array of helpful features, the cost is something which some customers may find on the higher side compared to other offerings in this category.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Veritas Backup Exec is a good choice for companies and enterprises to manage data backup and recovery on large scale. It provides a lot of features such as reporting, cloud integration, easy to use UI and many others, so that teams can utilize this to its fullest and add value to their business.

What differentiates Backup Exec from other similar products?

Backup Exec offers quick and easy protection and recovery, with a number of useful integrations that make the platform easier to manage. From the central management console we are able to set up backups quickly in just a few clicks

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Via the Instant Cloud Recovery feature, Backup Exec offers Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service, which we utilize to carry out bare-metal, physical-to-virtual and virtual-to-physical data recovery

What do you dislike most about this product?

Quick search of specific files by path, owner, creation and other pre-set filters. It should apply deduplication technology to all archived data, removing all redudant data for further ease of management and to minimize bandwidth strain

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Backup Exec is the ideal solution for a business that has to backup many devices. It will store an image of your primary hard drive to the cloud and has a big number of security options

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

Replication for Long Term Storage and Disaster Recovery Onsite backup data is replicated and stored to a public cloud (AWS, Azure). Can also include restore-to-cloud capabilities for Disaster Recovery as a Service.

Application Awareness Application consistent backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Deduplication Implementation Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.
