Great to Backup your virtual environments

What differentiates Veeam Data Platform from other similar products?

Veeam is well know to work only with virtual environments specially with vmware and the integration that it has with vmware make the different with other solutions. because help you to improve the team needed to backup a virtual machine and the easy restoration in case you need it

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The integration with VMware is one of the favorite thing, but also the license price is one of the positive aspect to have Veeam as your solution for virtual environments

What do you dislike most about this product?

Veaam need to improve the detection of the applications that are hosted in the virtual machines in order to improve the backup for examples is you have a webservice or a database to just backup that application and not all the virtual machine.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Veaam is improving to include other features like bare metal backups and applications but you need to know well what are the limitations that Veaam's has, so you need to be clear what you need to backed up because it work great to back up a full virtual machine.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Replication for Long Term Storage and Disaster Recovery Onsite backup data is replicated and stored to a public cloud (AWS, Azure). Can also include restore-to-cloud capabilities for Disaster Recovery as a Service.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.

Deduplication Implementation Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Backup Monitoring and Reporting Backup and replication are continually monitored for status and effectiveness. Detailed reporting is available on successful and unsuccessful operations.

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.
