What differentiates Unitrends Backup Software from other similar products?

Nothing at this point the cost of their product has doubled since they were taken over by Kaseya and their product has not evolved and their customer service has decreased.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Easy to use and restore a VM in an emergency.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The customer service and lack of new features as well as the price increases.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Look at other products they are no longer as competitive at the higher price point.

One vendor for hardware, software, cloud. Allows backups to be saved to any type of device.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One contact for support issues. No extra licenses needed for each server.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes the product has unexplained hang ups.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Get quotes from other products and let sales know you are looking at other products so they give competitive pricing.

What differentiates Unitrends Backup Software from other similar products?

A physical appliance and VM makes installation easy. Great support. API Integration with our existing custom inventory software is very nice.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Installation, setup and monitoring.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I wish the API was supported. Having to create jobs for every backup copy to each device for replication copies can be a pain. Checking to make sure that every client schedule and backup copy is set up correctly.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Get the appliance and add a RDXA disk array to use disk backup instead of tapes.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.

Deduplication Implementation Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Backup Monitoring and Reporting Backup and replication are continually monitored for status and effectiveness. Detailed reporting is available on successful and unsuccessful operations.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.
