What differentiates OpenText Data Protector from other similar products?

I think what makes Data Protector a winning solution is the core and its structures. We can add a lot of backup requirements with the help of a data protector. I like how easy it is to use and I have never received any help with it or asked any questions. Easy to use. Data Protector is very easy to use and once you get it becomes a second thing. Works very well with standard OS backups.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Once installed, the most important feature is the ease of use. It is a little tricky to install set up, because of the way the licensing module works. Otherwise, it is very easy to use. Excellent performance, stable product, flexibility and licensing, easy to set up backups, and comprehensive integration options like Oracle, SQL, SharePoint, etc. I like fast discovery and the emphasis on data protection. My company holds sensitive data and we need ways to ensure that everything from our end is secure.

What do you dislike most about this product?

We feel difficulties in licensing this application. Restoring RMAN can be painful. It slows down when you use it for a long time. Most broadcast backups are not smooth as single broadcast backups.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

once we are on the Windows side there are better options out there. Another problem is that the data is in a format that only works with HP. When locked in HP Data Protector we are locked inside really.

What differentiates OpenText Data Protector from other similar products?

The reason behind choosing this tool is that it is quite a credible tool and we can depend on it for the recovery of data with features. It is helpful in deduplication and also compresses files and above all, it is easy to install which is another ease because if something is hard to install one cannot move forward with it. anyone can install this tool even without any IT person's need.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I like its scheduling feature that is more concerned and keeps regular backups. Now we can take a sigh of relief as we don’t have to be worried about data loss. And its scheduling feature is a bit more advanced and integration is useful. we can rely on its automated data recovery as it is highly reliable and at very reasonable pricing.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes it takes a bit long time to import backup and it makes things a bit difficult for us but it didn’t happen always but when it happens it makes things hard for us as we cannot afford delays in backups. so this is the basic flaw we have encountered so far and it needs to provide its users with new updates but it's slow in this.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would highly recommend this tool for all those who want to have proper backups of their important data files. Apart from a few flaws, everything is just perfect with it.

Analytics Built-in real-time and historical reporting and analytics on SLAs, performance, and resource consumption, as well as predictive capabilities to plan & optimize.

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Backup of Cloud Based Data In addition to targeting backups to the cloud, the solution also has the capability to back up primary data and services already in the cloud.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.
