Best open source learning management system!

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Moodle from other similar products?

Possibly Moodle's biggest strength is its community. You can find many helpful users that can give you a hand in solving most common issues and give guidance to usual scenarios.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I love how this software is so easy to use! The back-end interface is very intuitive and even though it might not be the perfect tool for beginners, it's great for advanced users since it has a very logical back-end structure. You can always find the configuration you need with a couple of clicks.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I love all of the aspects of this learning management system, but the thing I dislike the most is the implementation stage. I strongly suggest to invest some time reading the documentation carefully to start with the right foot.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Moodle is... huge! It has tons of features, so you should really take your time and read the documentation or one of the excellent books published around this tool.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Performance Enhancing
  • Trustworthy

Cons

  • Less Effective Service

The professional choice, but it can be complex

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Moodle from other similar products?

Moodle has an open source version that is very well done. It is complex to use compared with other similar solutions. I see it usually implemented in serious or official educational centers. For example, in Spain, I think that the government only convalidates official online studies done with Moodle. So, for professional user cases, it can be a good investment.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It offers a lot of flexibility, a professional user interface, that can result in a very pleasant user experience. It can have exams, quizzes, video lessons, pfd downloadable lessons, etc. And being a leading plaforms, it can be integrated with many other tools. Also, it is a plaform with a large tradition in the market, so unlike other plaforms, I find it is here for the long run.

What do you dislike most about this product?

In addition to being more complex that other learning management systems, it can be buggy sometimes. For example, in a course that I was doing few days ago, when I logged in sometimes I could see data of other students, like their email or see what students are connected right now. So I think it was an issue of misconfiguration of the open source part.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If your company is really serious about online teaching and online examinations, it can be the right solution. If not, there are simpler solutions that can get the job done perfectly.

Pros

  • Altruistic
  • Acts with Integrity
  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
