What is Microsoft Power Query?

Power Query is a data transformation and data preparation engine. Power Query comes with a graphical interface for getting data from sources and a Power Query Editor for applying transformations. Because the engine is available in many products and services, the destination where the data will be stored depends on where Power Query was used. Using Power Query, you can perform the extract, transform, and load (ETL) processing of data.

What differentiates Microsoft Power Query from other similar products?

I like how Microsoft Power Query offers a wide range of data transformation that you only need to click (yes no need to code!) without making it hard to use even for non IT people.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Microsoft Power Query offers a lot of capabilities in order for you to transform your data into a presentable way, if offers a wide range of data source connection and joining multiple data sources, adding a calculated column, executing python or sql scripts and anything you can imagine.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Nothing. Seriously, I've been handling the tool for 5 years but the tool keeps getting awesome and awesome since they always update.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you are using an Excel for your company's reporting tool then I would suggest to add Microsoft Power Query which will help you transform your data so you can easily visualize and present it or you can use Power BI Desktop which also uses Power Query. It also helps to automate your reporting task which you can utilize to save some time.
