What differentiates Microsoft Power BI from other similar products?

One of the major advantages of using Power BI for data analysis and visualization is that it is relatively affordable. It is possible to use Power BI conveniently without extensive prerequisite knowledge about BI tools

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Power BI retrieves data from multiple sources and stores them as datasets in a centralized location for offline analysis

What do you dislike most about this product?

The free version of Power BI, the volume of data that can be processed at a time, is limited to about 2GB. When we hit the data limit, we were required to upgrade to the paid version of Power BI in order to continue

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is possible to use Power BI on multiple platforms. There is a desktop version that can be utilized offline to create and analyze data visualizations

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable

ODK in real-time and Power BI Sync

Likeliness to Recommend

7 /10

What differentiates Microsoft Power BI from other similar products?

At work, I utilize Power BI every day. It supports the creation of original Dashboards and tailored reports. All processes are automated. My reports alter as my source data does. I have nothing to worry about. Power BI manages everything. I'm free to employ my own custom triggers and take certain actions in accordance with the demands. Power BI seamlessly interfaces with MS-SQL and Power Automate, two more Microsoft tools.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I can connect to more than 80 different data sources! Simply put, Power BI is excellent. A good Business Intelligence tool with a full feature set. I've utilized both Tableau and Power BI. But in all honesty, I prefer Power BI to be simpler and more user-friendly. I would strongly advise any organization seeking for a BI solution to use this.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The tools need to be made simpler to use or should include guiding pop-ups. Significant map improvements are also needed. Power BI's inability to produce bespoke infographics as quickly as Tableau is its main drawback. Aside from this, Power BI compares favorably to other BI products that are currently on the market.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I adore PowerBI's dashboards and their capacity to combine data from many sources. Our leadership team can then filter and customize the reports to meet their needs after consolidating all of our data in one place.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Trustworthy
  • Unique Features

Integrates well with Power Platform & O365 Office

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Microsoft Power BI from other similar products?

Power BI allows an organisation who is "Microsoft" user of 0365 to integrate MS Team, MS Forms, Power Automate and Power Apps seamlessly into the landscape. The ease of use for end user who is a novice is exceptional. This is why Power BI fits in with Microsoft's ambition to be the ONE STOP shop for Apps, O365 tools and Reporting.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The ability to schedule timely refreshes to key databases to ensure real time information is published into the dashboard. Also I like the ability to pin a LIVE page into the dashboard so that you can interact with it like a desktop report instead of a tile. I love the Date dragger which others also have but with my dashboard it allows me to drag the date slicer and see trends over time. Also I love the fact that I can create a Sharepoint List using MS Teams view so end user can update the data there and I can link the Sharepoint list directly to Power BI

What do you dislike most about this product?

The fact that I need to have a premium licence to publish my dashboards dataset to my shared workspace, so that a User with READ only can view the dashboard without a WRITE licence. Also, in the desktop version when I connect data source to a XLS, the source data cannot be a fiel in my One Drive, instead you need to amend the address to a sharepoint site and change the syntax to XLSX all the time. It is also difficult to remove a Data Source I found once its in and when you need to re-establish connection via Permissions prior to refresh

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

As an organisation who is interested in using Power BI for Performance Boards for their weekly dialogues, get the PREMIUM licence because it will allow one user with WRITE access to create and publish into a shared workspace so that all those with READ licences can view the dashboard report without the need to upgrade to WRITE
