Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is an enterprise endpoint security platform designed to help enterprise networks prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats. Defender for Endpoint customers need to apply for the Microsoft Threat Experts managed threat hunting service to get proactive Targeted Attack Notifications and to collaborate with experts on demand. Experts on Demand is an add-on service. Targeted Attack Notifications are always included after you have been accepted into Microsoft Threat Experts managed threat hunting service.

My favorite aspect of the product is simulation.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Nothing at the moment, as we just implemented recently and it works fine as expected.

What differentiates Microsoft Defender for Endpoint from other similar products?
Two points: The effortless of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint with other Microsoft security products makes it an important component of XDR and allows it to correlate various signals from the different products, something which requires additional technical overhead in other similar products The heuristics based approach of XDR is one of its highlights as a feature and the integration of Microsoft Threat Intellignence compliments it further.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favourite aspect/feature of the product is the automated investigation and response, its wide variety of capabilities like initiating AV scans, isolating devices, encrypting volumes etc. and most importantly the flexibility to define the automation level for different device groups with dedicayed level of permission.
What do you dislike most about this product?
I see a lot of scope in reducing the complexity of on-boarding MDE for large enterprises wihtout external automation tools.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Have a dedicated team of device management experts that can effectively configure and tune the product to utilize it to its full potential and not just incur charges for the unused features.
