What is IBM Storage Protect?

IBM Storage Protect™ provides comprehensive data resilience for physical file servers, virtual environments, and a wide range of applications. Organizations can scale up to manage billions of objects per backup server. Clients can reduce backup infrastructure costs with built-in data efficiency capabilities and the ability to migrate or copy data to tape, public cloud services, and on-premises object storage. IBM Storage Protect can also store IBM Storage Protect Plus data, allowing companies to take advantage of their existing investment for long-term data retention and disaster recovery.

Unlike some solutions that only scratch the surface, this one digs deep, ensuring backups, recovery, and data integrity are truly airtight.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Something I really appreciate is the software's automated deduplication. When dealing with terabytes of data generated daily—from quality reports to machine telemetry—it’s easy to waste storage on redundant information. IBM’s approach ensures we’re not just backing up but optimizing the space as well. This is especially useful in manufacturing, where budgets for IT infrastructure are tightly scrutinized.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Managing policies for multiple storage nodes can feel cumbersome.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

This backup tool gives us lots of options for the data backup. We can access from anywhere easily. It saves from loss or hacks. It is giving seamless experience and quickly integrate with cloud.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

High grade data security. User friendly Interface. Seamless integration with IBM services. Lots of customisations.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Backup takes too much time when internet speed is poor.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Recommended application, It saves our important data over the cloud. We can access anywhere from the globe.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Analytics Built-in real-time and historical reporting and analytics on SLAs, performance, and resource consumption, as well as predictive capabilities to plan & optimize.

Application Awareness Application consistent backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.

Backup of Cloud Based Data In addition to targeting backups to the cloud, the solution also has the capability to back up primary data and services already in the cloud.
