What differentiates IBM Storage Protect from other similar products?
Reducing the load on production servers by offloading backups using Spectrum Protect Snapshot Although the product is excellent, there is still room for improvement in terms of implementation and customisation.. We've been using Spectrum Protect for a long time, and we're completely satisfied. A major weakness is a lack of ability to compete with other vendors in new areas, such as virtual machines (VMs).
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Because of its sturdiness, it does its job quietly and effectively, but it does like to be pampered, so proper care is required to get the most out of it. Once you've figured it out, it's a piece of cake. Backup servers do not need to be rebooted on a monthly basis, at least not on AIX, which I have on some of my servers. Spectrum Protect is a one-stop shop for all your backup and restore needs; it works with anything you throw at it.
What do you dislike most about this product?
I believe the most pressing issue is the lack of compatibility between various IBM products, such as tdp and gskit, as well as issues with snapshot manager and other products like SVC. Implementation and configuration should only be attempted by those who are intimately familiar with the product, and even then, it may be difficult to uncover all of the available options.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Although the product is very stable, it works better if it is maintained on a daily basis, like most things, like most things. We'd conduct a thorough, POC-driven evaluation to determine which product best meets our requirements. At the time we began using Spectrum protect (then known as ADSM), the backup and recovery market had only a few options to choose from. Many options are available today.
Pros
- Reliable

Strong performance thanks to the DB2 database used as the backend. Besides deduplication, incremental forever technology also reduces storage needs. pectrum protect, The simplicity with which the new spectrum protect can be installed. Scalability, as well as a Spectrum-protected operation center. Because of its scalability, spectrum Protect can protect a large number of objects on a single server. Because of the built-in capabilities for increasing data efficiency, there is also a significant reduction in costs. Data Air GAP

The platform for the administration of the tools needs to be improved. In order to reduce the amount of time spent configuring suite products, you should prioritize simplicity.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
The more the training team understands about the better solution deduplication and compression box with Spectrum Storage and container technology, the more important it is to acquire skills. The more benefits you reap from Spectrum protect depend on your ability to acquire these skills. You can make use of solutions that are cloud-ready.
