What differentiates Commvault Cloud from other similar products?

I have been working in the area of backup , disaster recovery and archiving over the past few years and reliably commvault is one of the good products. While having some good features and integration with most available vendors in the IT industry. As a IT person my need will be to have a less complicated tool under one shell, while there are other tools also available for simpler use for a complicated need commvault is one of the best choice.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Ease of searching in the latest versions. Quick access of data for any recovery.

What do you dislike most about this product?

NA - Nothing specific , as every product has pros and cons. May be the support can be more efficient than what it is today.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Know your need, know your purpose and understand the cost, if this can be relative then the right product of choice can be made.

Commvault stands out as a unique solution due to its extensive compatibility with a wide range of platforms and cloud vendors. It offers distinctive features for enhanced protection and security, and its support team is exceptional, providing unparalleled assistance.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite aspect of Commvault is its ability to provide greater control over company data. It enables seamless movement of large datasets between different cloud vendors and offers robust tools for converting data to ensure compatibility across various platforms. This flexibility and power make managing and leveraging data much more efficient.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I’ve been using this software since 2016 and can’t recall a single instance where it failed or was unable to deliver. Whenever critical issues arise, I consistently find the support team to be highly knowledgeable, proactive in escalating issues, and dedicated to ensuring that problems are resolved efficiently.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

In my view, in an IT landscape where security needs are increasingly critical, it's essential to have tools that provide robust protection and control over diverse solutions and large volumes of data.

Physical Backup for Multiple Platforms Backs up data and system info for non-virtualized systems. Primarily Windows and Linux servers but also, potentially, AIX, Unix and others.

Virtual Machine Backup Automatically discovers and protects VMs as they come online, move, and change. Production VMs are replicated to a secondary data store.

Backup of Cloud Based Data In addition to targeting backups to the cloud, the solution also has the capability to back up primary data and services already in the cloud.

Integration With Storage Arrays Integrates with APIs from major storage vendors (NetApp, HP, Dell EMC) to leverage capabilities in these arrays such as data snapshots and replication.

File Explorer Granular Restore Individual files can be located and restored from backup media without the need for full system mounting and restore.

Application Awareness Application consistent backup and granular restore for application data from core applications such as MS SQL, Oracle, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint.

Backup Monitoring and Reporting Backup and replication are continually monitored for status and effectiveness. Detailed reporting is available on successful and unsuccessful operations.

Backup Automation Solution automates backup, recovery and remediation tasks using RestAPI and CLI to integrate with 3rd party solutions, reduce cost and enforce standards.

Replication for Long Term Storage and Disaster Recovery Onsite backup data is replicated and stored to a public cloud (AWS, Azure). Can also include restore-to-cloud capabilities for Disaster Recovery as a Service.

Deduplication Implementation Deduplication of redundant data blocks is implemented by the solution. Deduplication can be at source, target, or globally (source and target).

Replication for High Availability Beyond secondary copy backup, the solution also manages replication of primary data host-to-host and site-to-site for live failover and high availability.
