Achieving Peak Network Agility

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Cisco Intent-Based Networking from other similar products?

Cisco's Intent-Based Networking (IBN) excels by translating high-level business requirements into a fully automated network fabric capable of dynamically adapting to evolving demands. Its software-defined approach abstracts away underlying infrastructure complexity, allowing policies to be defined through intuitive software constructs. This enables unprecedented flexibility and operational consistency at scale.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One key advantage is IBN's ability to continuously validate that the network is operating per defined intent across wired and wireless domains. By establishing a constant feedback loop between the control plane and network state, misconfigurations and anomalies can be rapidly detected and remediated. Network assurance and compliance are baked into the solution's DNA. Its built-in validation capabilities provide brilliant visibility, ensuring our network potently fulfills its defined “intent” at all times.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The transition to IBN requires comprehensive planning and design support to map business and technical requirements effectively. Organizations lacking extensive Cisco expertise may face challenges maximizing its capabilities out-of-the-box.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

As networks exponentially increase in scale and complexity, managing them through archaic box-by-box methods is utterly unsustainable. This harsh reality became apparent when routine network assessments across our enterprise felt more like exploratory archaeology than modern operations. Cisco's Intent-Based networking solutions opened our eyes to a radically new paradigm: one where network professionals define overarching requirements through software policies that self-implement across the entire infrastructure stack.
