What differentiates Brightidea Innovation Cloud from other similar products?

So many things - many products can take in ideas, most struggle with large amounts of data, reporting, migration and then also lack features like using the tools for Hackathons, Pitch Days and other event orientated innovation concepts. Brightidea has it all in one suite and all of it works well.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The ability to customize everything. From the different types of idea collection events and portal challenges, to creating enough workflow filtering to have business leaders directly involved in reviewing ideas, to being able to do live judging on ideas at pitch events. The tool basically makes it easy to get everything working regardless of use case or business scenario.

What do you dislike most about this product?

This may have improved a bit since my last interaction but in my last go-around, this was the only thing that stood out: even though it can handle a ton of ideas (whereas other tools really cannot), it can sometimes struggle to produce reporting for those ideas in a timely fashion. It would often get stuck where we'd need to have Brightidea kill a report that was generating for hours to start again. In a company that at the time had 18,000 ideas and where we'd have a historical reference of tens of thousands of ideas, it can be daunting to pull reporting from that archive.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Don't just let it sit there. Truly try out all the different features. Before I got to my company, they were just using Brightidea as a generic idea collection portal and letting all the other features just sit there unused. I immediately changed up the look of the portal to have seasonality to it and be more inviting and unlocked other challenge types so we could do Pitch Days, Hackathons and other short timed business area specific challenges. I also created all company contests and used the front page to post a scoreboard (a scoreboard feature wouldn't be too bad if configurable). The tool has too many uses to leave dormant.
