What is AutoCAD?

AutoCAD is computer-aided design (CAD) software that is used for precise 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling with solids, surfaces, mesh objects, documentation features, and more. It includes features to automate tasks and increase productivity such as comparing drawings, counting, adding objects, and creating tables. It also comes with seven industry-specific toolsets for electrical design, plant design, architecture layout drawings, mechanical design, 3D mapping, adding scanned images, and converting raster images. AutoCAD enables users to create, edit, and annotate drawings via desktop, web, and mobile devices.

What differentiates AutoCAD from other similar products?

The management of statistics and computations is simplified with its assistance. It made it possible for us to put the full set of building blueprints into order. You will have the ability to do tasks in a place that is three-dimensional. It has a ton of helpful features, and some of them are designed specifically for managing really massive projects. AutoCAD is one of a kind when compared to other applications.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

It is a software but very complete, the design and documentation workflow is good and efficient, the 3D sketches are useful since I can use 2D and 3D in a basic set, it is very versatile since one can work in mechanics, electricity, plumbing, architecture, and even your shop drawings all in one place, and the ability to integrate with Revit, Navisworks, and the cloud features of BIM 360 are very helpful in coordinating, presenting, and implementing projects. Point clouds are handy. Its versatility and customisation are superior than Revit.

What do you dislike most about this product?

AutoCAD lacks LOD 400-500 cost estimate, modeling, and facility management. Xref is hardware-dependent and often fails, and component assembly is difficult to use. Limited export file formats, no auto-save, undo/redo sequence intact. Color and texture restrictions prevent realistic modeling. AutoCAD doesn't make Dynamo accessible.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Get started with part modeling and the conversion of 2D geometry to 3D geometry with this excellent tool for beginners. Utilize Navisworks in conjunction with AutoCAD to keep an eye on your job, and be sure you utilize BIM 360 as a cloud coordination tool; this will make your workflow more efficient.
