The primary difference between Alteryx and other ETL tools is the ease of use and drag and drop feature. It allows non technical user to do data transformation without any hassle.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Alteryx supports Integration from almost any data source available and allows you to create a synchronized singe data set for further use.

What do you dislike most about this product?

I frequently face issues with Alteryx server, due to which we've to run workflows manually.

Ease of Use, This product is versatile and Doesn't need technical background

What differentiates Alteryx from other similar products?

There is a wide range of functionality available in Alteryx Designer. In other ETL tools you can perform basic Data Preparation and Integration Operations but Alteryx on the other hand gives you flexibility to work on Data Input, Data Pre Processing, Data Output, Reporting, Macros and Business Applications.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

I think development of business applications using Alteryx Designer is one of the coolest feature available right now.

What do you dislike most about this product?

Sometimes, when I try to fetch a large input file or multiple input file in Alteryx Canvas, it takes time and after some time it crashes which is a bit annoying I think.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would highly recommend Alteryx Designer as it definitely helps you in whole extraction, transformation and loading flow of data and the best part is that you only have to create a single workflow which you can use later for multiple use cases.

What differentiates Alteryx from other similar products?

Alteryx uses a nice user interface which makes it easy to create models for data analysis. This simplifies aspects like linear regression and probability calculations in general. The models can be reused and results are available within seconds or minutes, depends on the amount of data you have. With some updates, you can also get some more functions. This changes from version to version. Cleaning data is relatively easy and you can also connect to other data sources that you can integrate then.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

The visual aspect is fine for a quick plug-and-play experience and the friendly cleansing of datasets. This makes working much easier and you don't have to waste a lot of time. This together eases working with this tool in comparison to comparable software or a popular spreadsheet tool.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It was a bad experience to know that with an update the results in output were different suddenly and you get told that this is normal. If you are working with follow-up calculations this can cause you a headache. So it would be necessary to keep output stable. Also, lots of error messages appear when you are "rewiring" the model and this makes it look a bit chaotic first. Some error messages are also not self-explaining and can cause a long trouble-shooting time at the computer. The lack of a Mac version was bad and required the use of a virtual computer.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Consider what you really need: a nice UI to put models together or are you willing to invest more time and brain cells to create a model in a data analytics tool or spreadsheet software. Because you can achieve the same and get reliable data that are not changing with a new version. You may consider a training for Alteryx if you choose it to avoid waiting for error solutions due to the inner complexity of Alteryx which other tools have as well, but they make its handling easier through a less intuitive, but a clearer way to the expected output and more tutorials and resources from other users.
