Layout & Publishing made easy!

Likeliness to Recommend

8 /10

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

Adobe has incorporated latest technology in it's legacy products such as InDesign. The subscription also provides us access to stock library, Adobe Fonts & the templates as an added bonus.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Adobe InDesign is the industry standard when it comes to layout design. InDesign has a comprehensive template library that we can directly edit and use. We can also create & store our own composite glyphs to elevate the text. Created glyphs & styles can be stored in our own Creative Cloud library for future use. Adobe frequently pushes the latest cutting edge technology in InDesign. Features such as the Smart Text Reflow tool help us in getting the desired look & feel with minimal efforts. InDesign also supports team collaboration with the help of Share-for-Review.

What do you dislike most about this product?

As a standalone application, Adobe InDesign subscription plans are expensive. InDesign is a complex software & it can be a little overwhelming for the beginners. InDesign requires high-end hardware to run smoothly & it consumes much of RAM & CPU while it's running. InDesign no longer supports 32 bit operating system.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

Although the subscription plans are a bit expensive, the product features justify the cost.

Pros

  • Helps Innovate
  • Continually Improving Product
  • Reliable
  • Unique Features

Industry standard for a reason!

Likeliness to Recommend

9 /10

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

Adobe InDesign is well know and is the main choice for Designers and Layout Artist. It is an Industry standard for a reason. It is part of Creative Cloud so the other tools such as adobe, illustrator, and adobe Photoshop are included so it makes it very easy to use. Other competitors do not have a similar advantage. As Adobe does. There is only a few options, other than InDesign that exist.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

My favorite part of the product is that it is included in Creative Cloud, and you only have to worry about paying for one subscription fee versus having multiple pieces of software.

What do you dislike most about this product?

What I dislike about the product is the cost I understand that there is a lot that Adobe offers, but it is very expensive to have Creative Cloud for a large team.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

If you were looking for an all in one solution getting creative cloud, that includes a design is the way to go.

Pros

  • Trustworthy

An Essential Tool for Our Team

Likeliness to Recommend

10 /10

What differentiates Adobe InDesign from other similar products?

If you use Adobe Creative Cloud as we do, Adobe InDesign integrates seamlessly with the other applications in this suite. We can easily update assets by updating embedded PSD or AI files. Fonts are easy to update through Adobe's library. Plus, it's quick to set up a wide variety of different formats required for omnichannel campaigns.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

Adobe InDesign catches many errors before exporting—the publishing features alert us to any errors in the file before exporting (missing links, fonts, overset type, etc.). We have included this check within the QA of our materials, and it's caught a couple of potential reprints for our printed materials. In addition to these safeguard features, there is a wealth of tutorials for learning more about using the tools and features within InDesign.

What do you dislike most about this product?

The only thing I dislike about this software is that it's limiting in regards to collaboration. Only one designer can open a file at a time. While this helps to limit the risk for errors, it's difficult for larger publications. To allow for our designers to work on our catalogs together, for example, we've split the catalog into different sections and our designers trade off on sections as they work.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

To get started with this software, I highly recommend getting started first with Adobe's tutorials, taking an online course, or attending Adobe MAX virtually for inspiration. As with many Adobe titles, there are a wealth of features, and it does take time to onboard someone new.

  • Helps Innovate
  • Reliable
  • Enables Productivity
