TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2019 - SoftwareReviews, a division of world-class IT research and consulting firm Info-Tech Research Group Inc., has published its 2019 Enterprise Backup and Availability (EBA) Data Quadrant Awards, naming three gold medalists in the space:

·         Rubrik Cloud Data Management
·         IBM Spectrum Protect
·         Barracuda Backup
·         Micro Focus Data Protector

Backup software manages the creation and storage of the secondary copy as well as the restore of the data to be read by online systems. Software moves data from a primary storage device to a secondary storage device.
According to Darryl Levesque, a principal research advisor at Info-Tech Research Group, “Data backup is a traditional element in every data center but is no longer enough to ensure against data loss. A more holistic approach with data protection as the primary driver is required. Long gone are the days of making a copy to tape and simply shipping that off site. Today, backup encompasses applications on-premises, in the cloud, data within software as a service (SaaS), snapshots, clones and more. Navigating the vendor landscape can be a daunting task with the multitude of products available.  IT can ease the path to a right fit data protection strategy and make sense of all the options available.”
